To Purchase a Cheese Shop
So alot of you may have heard me text, or tweet something way out of the ordinary (More out of the ordinary than usual stay on task LOL) about wanting to own a cheese shop. Lets start at the beginning on where this great idea came from. As usual alot you know I travel for work and visit various cities throughout Wisconsin. It gets quite boring in the car, and usually I stop to take random pictures of stuff, or look at historical markers and what not. I happened to be on a county road around Necedah heading over to I90 to go to Lacrosse. Suddenly over a hill I saw this closed down cheese shop. My first thought in my mind was what a dumb tourist trap, let alone a bad location. I kept thinking why would people go to one of these cheese shops anyways. Well on my way home I drove by another cheese shop on I90 near Deforest. Again I let out a chuckle and thought maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way. My mind started to come out with all these great ideas, and it hit me. Why not own a cheese shop?
Think about it most of your customers are tourists right (Mostly our friends in Illinois)? They think they are getting fresh Wisconsin cheese from a local merchant and its the real deal. But really is the cheese any different than me going to Pick N Save, or Woodman's and buying it? Their stuff says made in Wisconsin as well. So how do we not know they bought the cheese of the week that was priced at $3.99 a pound, bought it in a huge block, sliced it at their store slapped a Fresh Wisconsin cheese sticker on it and are now charging $7.99? Its the perfect crime (I mean sale). These people might come back what once or twice every year and tell you how much they love your cheese products, and not even know it. Who says you have to always carry the same kind of cheese? You could tell them you sold out of cheddar and only have swiss right? Blame a large bus of casino loving seniors cleaned you out as an excuse.
Throw in some crappy over priced I love Wisconsin merchandise, some beef sticks, some picnic tables and beverages and you got one happening tourist trap (destination). I'm betting to think that someone in Vermont claims to have fresh maple syrup but yet hes pouring bottles of Aunt Jemima, Mrs Butterworths (Or mixing both) or a store brand into glass jars, slapping a sticker on it labeled pure maple syrup and you'd never even know. LOL
Its really not a bad business idea :) Now if you don't get that this is one big joke and think I'm dead serious and ramble on about purchasing from a farmer (They know who they are) you really don't know me all that well then do you? You are the type of people I am looking at selling to and will spend $50 on useless souvenirs and crappy cheese that you bought cause its from Wisconsin LOL.
What crazy idea will I have on the road next time? Tune in for the next adventure.
